Course Objectives

Research demonstrates that the role of an attuned, well-regulated and responsive adult is fundamental to mitigating the impact of trauma. This interactive training equips school personnel with practical strategies to promote trust, emotional regulation, and positive student interactions.

  • Recognize the influence of traumatic stress on student behavior, emotional regulation, and school functioning.

  • Practice co-regulation to support students experiencing dysregulation and de-escalate challenging student interactions.

  • Use collaborative and strengths-based approaches to promote student agency and reduce feelings of powerlessness associated with trauma.

  • Reduce secondary traumatic stress and strengthen educator resilience when working with high-needs students.
