Prerequisite: Completion of Part 1: Ethical and Theoretical Foundations for the Use of Psychodrama Techniques for those without Psychodrama Credentials is required to register for this webinar. Participants may meet this requirement by completing the Part 1 home study, providing documentation of prior completion of Part 1 as a live webinar, or by holding formal psychodrama credentials.

Course Objectives

Engage in guided demonstrations and practice psychodrama-informed tools such as role-play, doubling, and the empty chair to apply in your setting.

  • Apply selected psychodrama techniques (e.g., role-play, doubling, empty chair) in ways that align with client goals, clinical judgment, and professional scope.

  • Adapt psychodrama-informed interventions for diverse client populations, with attention to developmental, cultural, and emotional considerations.

  • Maintain emotional and physical safety during experiential interventions by applying ethical guidelines and clear professional boundaries.

  • Clarify the clinician’s role when using psychodrama techniques as therapeutic tools rather than facilitating full psychodrama sessions.

  • Use reflection and debriefing practices to evaluate effectiveness and adjust interventions as needed.

About the Presenter

Colleen Baratka, MA, TEP, CTP-3

Board Certified Psychodrama Trainer, Educator & Practitioner (TEP)

Colleen Baratka is a Fellow of the American Society of Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama and a certified Trainer, Educator, and Practitioner (TEP) thru the American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama, Sociometry, and Group Psychotherapy. She is a recipient numerous awards including the 2025 Innovator’s Award for her work with Eating Disorders. A graduate of NYU’s Drama Therapy Program, she has 30 plus years of clinical experience. She is a published author who began her career in special education and went on to pioneer a hospital-wide psychodrama program at the Belmont Center, Philadelphia. She later led the Trauma Program at Renfrew Center and trained psychodrama facilitators for the Caron Foundation. Colleen works in private practice in Newtown Square, PA, where she specializes in treating eating disorders, trauma, and related issues for individuals, families, and groups driven by her belief in the healing power of creativity, connection, and resilience.
